Have a Question?

  • Pilates is a system of exercises often referred to as ‘Contrology’ created by Joseph Pilates in the 1940s. Pilates involves low impact movements that focus on strengthening the body, improving flexibility and enhancing health and well-being. The body and the mind work strongly together following conscious breathing patterns.

  • Pilates is the best form of exercise if you’re looking to build strength in your core and overall muscles without adding bulk. Benefits include improving posture and body alignment, increasing flexibility and joint mobility, as well as enhancing your health and well-being by releasing stress and supporting a healthy mind.

  • No, you don’t. Pilates is suitable for people with any fitness background and level of experience. Exercises will be adapted and modifications offered where necessary to give you the best experience. However, if you’re new to Pilates, we recommend starting with a private class to set the foundations of the method and get you started ready for a group class experience.

  • Consistency is key to achieve progress overtime. I care that you build a good body awareness to notice the small progress week by week. However this is not a quick fix but a journey that requires time, commitment, and consistency. How fast you progress to achieve your goals also depends how many times a week you do Pilates. Best results are seen with 2/3 classes a week but once a week is also good. A combination of group and private classes will boost your journey as in the private class you benefit from the teacher’s full attention and a class tailored on your individual needs and goals.

  • Pilates can support your rehabilitation and recovery journey, however please make sure to get in touch with me at info@mareamovement.com to discuss your circumstances so we can advise as best, prior to booking a class.
